Placement of Lords of Houses

Placement of Lords of Houses

This article discusses the results produced when the lord of each bhāva (house) occupies any of the twelve houses. The underlying idea is simple: house lords carry the agenda of their houses to the houses they occupy, modifying outcomes for both houses.

How to read the results (beginner-friendly):

  • Judge the lord: A house lord signifies the topics of its house (e.g., the 1st lord signifies body/health; the 2nd lord wealth; the 3rd siblings and effort, etc.). It delivers those topics through the house it occupies.
  • Modify sensibly: Results are adjusted by (i) the planet’s inherent nature (svabhāva), (ii) friendships/aspects and conjunctions (yuti/dr̥ṣṭi), (iii) its strength across varga charts, and (iv) the operating daśā timing — most promised events fructify during supportive periods.
  • Read contextually: Classical phrases (e.g., “honoured by the ruler,” “dealings with horses”) should be mapped to modern equivalents (status/authority, vehicles, etc.).

Note. Below, “lord” means the planetary ruler of that house for the given lagna; results hold across signs with standard functional adjustments.

Practical interpretation tips

  • Balance of houses: Blend the house owned, house occupied, and any yogas formed with other lords. Kendras (1, 4, 7, 10) and trikoṇas (1, 5, 9) generally strengthen results; trika houses (6, 8, 12) tend to challenge.
  • Functional nature matters: Even natural malefics can behave benefically when owning trines/kendras for a given lagna, while lords of 6/8/12 challenge what they touch. Apply standard functional rules before literalizing any single bullet.
  • Timing: The listed indications typically surface during supportive daśā/antaradaśā periods of the involved lords and their dispositors.
